Rathi forces the fight
From the opening exchanges, Pushpender Rathi made it clear who intended to set the terms. The Indian boxer walked forward, closed the distance and applied sustained pressure, working to take the centre of the ring and keep it.
Cedric Ulrich Mbogning spent significant portions of the contest on the back foot, moving away and trying to answer Rathi's pressure rather than impose his own. Rathi dictated the pace and kept the initiative for much of the fight.
A clear points victory
The sustained aggression was rewarded with a clear points victory for Rathi. Official judges' scorecards were not available to CombatReviews at the time of publication, so none are reported here.
Rathi is beginning to attract attention as an Indian prospect with ambitions of progressing towards championship level. Whether he becomes a genuine contender is the story still to be written, but performances built on pressure and control are how that case gets made.
BATL Promotions building an international boxing platform
The fight took place on a BATL Promotions card. BATL Promotions is building an international professional boxing platform in Dubai, staging professional events and giving developing fighters and international talent regular opportunities to compete.
For prospects like Rathi, that platform matters: consistent activity in front of a growing audience is a key part of progressing through the professional ranks, and he is now part of the developing Dubai boxing scene BATL Promotions is helping to build.
Championship experience in the corner
Former two-weight WBO World Champion Paul Weir was working in Rathi's corner during the contest — the moment captured in the photograph above.
Weir brings experience from his own championship career, and his involvement provides an interesting championship-level connection to Rathi's developing professional journey.
